What is content audit?

In this content audit we examine 32 criteria out of 55 success criteria examined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). These include use of colour contrast, subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing and/or headings and labels.

What is the WCAG?

The WCAG consist of guidelines to help you make the internet more digitally accessible. These are scientifically determined to make it easier for people with disabilities to use the internet.

What is a sub audit?

For a content sub-audit, 32 success criteria are audited. These are tested according to the WCAG-EM; the report is aimed at the content manager or web editor. This report can be combined with the report of a technique audit.

In our table you will find an overview of which success criteria a sub-audit technique and sub-audit content should meet.

This is how a content audit at Cardan works:

1. We pick an appropriate date

Together with our planner Femke, you will choose a suitable time to have the this technique audit carried out. The online consultation and free re-examination will also be scheduled.

2. The sample is determined

We look at potential accessibility issues in content in this content audit. For example:

  1. Colour contrast.

  2. Video subtitles.

  3. Language of the page.

3. The content audit has started!

Our auditer takes off! We do a manual inspection based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2 AA) In this content investigation, we examine 32 out of 55 success criteria.

4. View the report

Within 3 weeks, your audit report will be ready in My Cardan. This report is available in HTML that can be used right away for the accessibility statement. You will also receive the results in pdf, JSON and CSV. The report is provided with all our findings, suggestions and solutions.

5. The online consultation with our WCAG-specialist

How do you get started with all the content findings? In this online consultation, you can put all your questions to our researcher. Together, you will spar about content solutions for success criteria that are not (yet) fulfilling.

6. Time for the re-examination

By mutual agreement, the retest is carried out 15 weeks after the start of the first audit In it, we audit if the website or app is more digitally accessible after the first audit!
