What is a Mobile App Accessibility Audit?

Mobile apps are being used more than ever. This audit examines both iOS and Android apps against WCAG 2.2, Level AA.

Do you want to know how digitally accessible your app is? Then this is the right choice for you. You’ll receive a clear, practical report for your accessibility statement and get the chance to ask all your questions during a consultation with our experts.

What is the WCAG?

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are international standards designed to make the internet more accessible. We currently assess against the latest 55 success criteria in WCAG 2.2, Level AA.

Exceptions to the audit

Some criteria are not reviewed in a Mobile App Accessibility Audit because they are not mandatory or applicable. This is in line with the EN 301 549 standard.

  • 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks

  • 2.4.2 Page Titled

  • 2.4.5 Multiple Ways

  • 3.1.2 Language of Parts

  • 3.2.3 Consistent Navigation

  • 3.2.4 Consistent Identification

How an Mobile App Audit Works at Cardan

1. Planning together

With our planner, you’ll select a suitable time for the audit. We’ll also schedule the consultation and free re-examination.

2. Determining the sample

Following WCAG-EM methodology, we select a sample of around 20 screens, including key features such as forms, videos, images, and tables. Where possible, screenshots are added to the report. This method is developed by the W3C.

Within 3 weeks, your report will be available in My Cardan. It comes in HTML (ready to use for your accessibility statement) as well as PDF, JSON, and CSV formats. The report includes findings, recommendations, and solutions.
